Sustainable Ministry
Your Soul Needs Quiet
Psalm 46:10
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
That is not a suggestion for calm people. It is a command for anxious ones.
Stillness is not laziness. Stillness is trust. It is the decision to stop scrambling for control and to remember who God is.
A lot of ministry burnout is not caused by workload alone. It is caused by a life with no quiet. No margin. No room for the soul to come up for air.
Worship leaders are especially vulnerable here because we can stay around spiritual things and still avoid God. We can plan sets, listen to tracks, and build moments while never slowing down enough to be with Him.
Psalm 46 does not say, “Be still and become more efficient.”
It says, “Be still and know.”
Knowing God is relational. It requires attention. And attention requires quiet.
Before you rehearse today, do not add one more thing.
Subtract something.
Turn down the noise. Sit with the verse. Let the stillness expose what you have been carrying. Then let God meet you there.

God, teach us to be still. Quiet the anxious striving in us. Make our hearts attentive to You again, and let our leadership flow from communion, not noise.
