The Slow Yes
Luke 22:42
This is one of the most sobering sentences in the Gospels.
“Not my will, but yours, be done.”
Jesus is not saying this in a peaceful moment. He is saying it under pressure. In sorrow. In the weight of what is coming.
Surrender is often presented like a vibe. But in Scripture, surrender is a decision. It is a realignment. It is a releasing of control when control feels like the only thing keeping you steady.
Worship leaders feel this constantly.
You want a great set. You want the room to respond. You want people to sing. You want the team to show up prepared. You want the Sunday to work.
And in the middle of all that, Jesus invites you into a different posture.
Not my will.
That does not mean you stop caring about excellence. It means excellence is no longer your savior. It means you lead with open hands. You plan, you prepare, you serve, and you still surrender the outcome.
The slow yes is often the most spiritual thing your team can practice together.
