Work Heartily

Colossians 3:23

“And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,”

That verse hits different when you are tired.

It is easy to treat preparation like a necessary evil. Something you do to avoid embarrassment. Something you rush through because life is full. Something you skip because you can wing it.

But worship leaders know the truth.

What happens on a platform starts in the unseen places. In the planning. In the practice. In the honesty about what needs work.

Preparation is not just technical. It is pastoral.

When you prepare, you are creating clarity for your team. You are building confidence for volunteers. You are making space for worship instead of confusion.

Work heartily.

Not for applause. Not to protect your reputation. Not to prove you belong.

For the Lord.

This week, let your preparation be worship. Let your craft be a yes to God.

Discussion Questions

  1. Where do you tend to cut corners because no one will notice.
  2. What is one rehearsal habit that would make our team healthier and stronger.
  3. How could preparation become an act of love for our church instead of pressure on ourselves.

Prayer

Jesus, teach us to work from the heart. Free us from people pleasing and fear. Make our preparation steady, humble, and filled with love for You and for the people we serve.
