Theme: Rain

Send rain on your land — the image of God's refreshing as spiritual rain runs through both testaments, from Elijah's prayer on Mount Carmel to the outpouring at Pentecost to the promise of the latter rain in the last days. Songs in this theme express a longing for spiritual refreshing, for the dry and dusty congregation to feel the heavens open and the presence of God fall fresh on everything. They are songs of invitation and prayer, calling the Spirit to move again, to restore the years the locusts have eaten, and to revive what has grown weary in the long season of waiting.
