Theme: Nearness

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you — this promise from the book of James is among the most practically profound in all of Scripture, and it has inspired some of the most tender worship songs in the contemporary church. Songs of drawing near to God carry the intimacy of a relationship that moves in both directions: the seeking heart welcomed by the seeking Father. They create a liturgical invitation for the congregation to step closer, to remove whatever distance the week has created, and to discover again that God has been waiting for them all along.
