Theme: Lordship

Jesus is not just Savior — He is Lord. Songs about lordship make that claim explicit and call the congregation into its full implications: that He has authority over every area of life, that following Him is not optional or partial, that the Lordship of Christ is the organizing principle of everything. I've found these songs essential for preventing the consumer Christianity that treats Jesus as a helpful resource for personal wellbeing rather than the Sovereign King who makes an absolute claim on every aspect of life. These are challenging songs, not comfortable ones — but they produce the kind of discipleship that actually transforms people. Lordship songs are the antidote to nominal faith, the invitation to the costly and beautiful whole-life yes.
