Theme: Gentleness

The gentleness of God is one of the most surprising and healing aspects of His character. He does not break the bruised reed or quench the smoldering wick. He is gentle with the struggling, the doubting, the just-barely-holding-on. Songs about gentleness speak to the congregation that has been handled roughly by life and by religion — they create space for the weary to exhale, to discover that the One who made demands also understands weakness, and that His yoke is easy and His burden is light.
