Theme: Formation

Formation is the slow, unglamorous, essential work of becoming more like Jesus — and worship is one of its primary instruments. Songs about spiritual formation call the congregation into that process: the discipline of prayer, the practice of humility, the long work of letting God's word renew the mind and shape the will. These songs are less emotional rockets and more steady anchors — they don't produce the high of a great praise moment, but they plant seeds that grow into genuine character. I've become more intentional about including formation songs in the regular worship diet because of how dramatically they affect the long-term health and culture of a congregation. Fast growth without formation is fragile. These songs build what lasts.
