Theme: Commitment

Worship produces a response — it always has. Songs about commitment capture the moment when what has been believed intellectually becomes something personally embraced and acted upon. These songs belong in the altar call tradition, in consecration services, in baptism preparation, in any moment when the Spirit is calling people to say 'yes' to something specific. I've used these songs at rededication services, at the close of significant teaching series, and at moments of church-wide discernment. The most powerful commitment songs aren't manipulative — they're invitational. They hold open the door and let the Holy Spirit do the actual calling, creating space for genuine response without manufacturing the emotion that makes it happen.
