The church is not a collection of individuals who happen to share a time slot — it is the body of Christ, organically connected, each member essential and irreplaceable. Songs about the body of Christ celebrate this reality and call the congregation into its lived expression. I've found these songs particularly powerful when there's been conflict or division in a congregation, when unity needs to be declared prophetically before it's fully experienced. They're also important in multi-ethnic contexts, where the gospel reconciliation between different peoples is being embodied in the room.
