Theme: Blessing

The blessing of God is both gift and commission — the favor he extends to his people and the purpose he gives them to carry that favor outward into the world. Songs about blessing celebrate the extraordinary goodness of a God who delights in giving good gifts to his children, who opens his hand and satisfies the desire of every living thing. They give the congregation language for receiving what God has provided and for extending it beyond themselves. Blessing songs are especially powerful in stewardship seasons and during moments of personal or corporate transition, reminding the church that everything it has received was first received as a gift, and that a blessed community is called to be a blessing.
