Theme: Benediction

The benediction is one of the most theologically rich moments in a worship service — the point when the gathered community is sent back into the world carrying the blessing of God. Songs for benediction are not merely closing hymns; they are commissions, blessings, and equipping moments. After twenty-five years of leading worship, I've become increasingly convinced that how we end a service matters as much as how we begin. These songs should send people out with a sense of purpose and divine backing — not entertained and exhausted, but filled and deployed. Think of them as 'Go in peace to love and serve the Lord' set to melody: the pastoral seal on everything God did in the gathering.
