Theme: Awakening

Revival is not our project — it's God's sovereign work. But awakening songs create the spiritual atmosphere in which God moves. They are the songs of Ezekiel's valley: 'Come, four winds, breathe on these slain that they may live.' I've been in rooms where these songs have done something that can only be described as awakening — eyes opening, hearts softening, the sense that something dead is becoming alive. These songs are most powerful in seasons when the church is pressing in for more of God, or when leadership senses that something fresh is available. They should be sung with faith and expectation, because they are not wishful thinking — they are prophetic invitation to the God who loves to breathe life into dry places.
