Theme: Authority

The authority of Jesus is not theoretical — it is operative and present. Songs about authority in worship aren't just making doctrinal claims; they're participating in the present reality of Christ's rule over every realm: spiritual, physical, historical, eternal. These songs have particular power in contexts of spiritual warfare, where the congregation needs to be reminded not just that Jesus is Lord in some distant eschatological sense, but that He is Lord right now, in this room, over this situation. I've also found these songs extraordinarily useful for building a congregation's confidence — when people truly sing that all authority belongs to Jesus, fear begins to loosen its grip and faith has room to breathe.
