Theme: Affection

Worship at its core is not a transaction — it's a love relationship. Songs about affection capture the warm, tender, deeply personal side of our relationship with God: the delight He takes in us, the love we've discovered for Him, the relational intimacy that makes Christianity categorically different from mere religion. After decades of leading worship, I've noticed that churches sometimes drift toward either pure theology — true but cold — or pure emotion — warm but unanchored. Songs of affection hold both together. They're emotionally honest, personally engaged, and theologically grounded in a God who actually loves us. These songs are particularly powerful in settings of prayer, quiet surrender, or personal renewal.
